Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga Naturally Renews the Body’s Innate Healing Abilities

Restorative Yoga brings the body, spirit and mind towards its natural equilibrium, vitality, and ease. Using props, bolsters, blocks, and blankets, the body feels completely supported and shifts into a level of deep rest and release. These therapeutic poses are powerful, effortless, nourishing and healing, while specifically balancing the body’s nervous system with nature’s seasonal changes, natural rhythms, and cycles of the day according to Ayurveda, an ancient form of Indian health and balance.

By allowing the body to just ‘be’ in Restorative Yoga, it effortlessly and naturally renews its innate healing abilities. It provides an opportunity to shed the day’s stress and restlessness through easeful yoga poses, giving grace and contentment as you walk forward in life. It is the perfect introduction to meditation or to relieve insomnia, pain, injuries, fatigue, emotional and physical stress.

In Restorative Yoga, you will be guided through various meditations and ways to focus your attention in order to maximize your experience and heighten your spiritual growth. These meditations revitalize, balance, and restore the body and mind. The Restorative Yoga class at Meditate offers space for deep connection with the inner self, and love to heal the heart and spirit.

Restorative Yoga also includes marma points, or acupressure points, that are tailored specifically and compassionately to respond to your body’s specific needs for the day. Marmas are points in the body where concentrated life force energy is located. They are part of the chakra, nadi, srota system of yoga.  This resets and activates the body’s channels of energy to come towards balance and helps your body bring your attention deeply inward for inner transformation. Candice, who teaches Restorative Yoga by Candlelight builds a relationship with each of her students and connects with them to provide a customized therapeutic experience.
